No new music after 30.

I, as a tenet of my life stance, strive to know more today than I did yesterday.

Music has been no exception to that rule.

I'm 50 and constantly search out new stuff (or old stuff I was previously unaware of) that catches my ear.

There's no *hate* in my music preferences.

Many
are just not interesting to me. Anyone for German Pagan Metal or Dark Electro?

I do like Scandinavian Viking metal.

Amon Amarth is one of my favorites, I've even seen them live a few times. Their playing is excellent the Viking theme is all in fun. Everyone in the band is extremely friendly as well even though they are dressed up like Vikings.
Same as most metal bands I've met actually. Seems like most just want to have loud fun and shred on their guitars and don't take the subject matter seriously at all.

Today I just purged my vinyl collection by about 1K, giving the records to Goodwill. Lots of stuff I would never listen to like female vocalists, blues, and the likes of that stuff. All came from a collection I bought years ago. It felt good to do some house cleaning and perhaps many will enjoy what I did not.

For those who missed my earlier post, I couldn't care less about any genre of country music nor spend any time listening to it..

If you do, that's certainly fine my me. :)

I like Youtube and use it all the time, but unless you know what you are looking for, it seems like it is getting harder to find anything good on there. The suggested videos used to be helpful, at least most of the time. Now the suggested stuff is mostly click bait style garbage that I'm not interested in.:dunno:

Youtube's algorithms will show you similar stuff to what you've watched. Usually similar in some way, so a lot of times a couple of those "alright, I'l click this one just once to see what the fuss is about" can come back to bite you in the ass.

That used to be the case and is partially still true, but I've been getting a TON of suggestions that are pure click bait that has absolutely nothing to do with any of the videos that I've ever watched. They are similar to the tactics that the local news uses to try get you to tune in.

They are the "Find out how ___ is made." "How did this guy survive ___?" "Find out how this lady made $1,000,000 by doing / finding ___!" "Watch this piece of military aircraft (or whatever) in action." "What did this celebrity do?" type of crap. Most of them are videos with millions of views, too.

I just started noticing it not too long ago, and it continues to get worse.

heh I never see that kind of stuff tbh... weird

But I also don't scroll I usually stick to the top two or 3 tiers.

maybe because I am so prolific in what I watch I just get super concentrated, inbred recommends

It's actually not too terribly bad on my main page. Most suggestions there are just repetitive stuff from channels I subscribe to. The real junk usually pops up on the side when a video is playing. It used to be mostly helpful stuff that was related to what was playing. Now, not so much.

NEVER click on a video that shows a fight. Cuz for the next two months all your suggestions will be "Watch this bully get his comeuppance" etc.

As I near 10 years past the 30 mark, I still scour the earth (ok maybe the internet) looking for new bands and tunes. Most are in a hard rock/metal/classic rock genre but in doing so I have found some great bands like the Biters, Greta Van Fleet, and a great Swedish band called Crazy Lixx just to name a few.
