Non-working PX-1

There's a non-working Yamaha PX-1 for sale on the bay.

The tonearm pipe is missing and no power from the power supply. Other than that, it looks pretty nice.

Found it no issue. Not sure I'd be signing up for this. The arm tube is not going to be easy to replace. Seller doesn't take Paypal. Red flag there although they appear to have a decent amount of feedback. You lose the additional protection of the Paypal agreement. Not for me but thanks for sharing. Certainly a table that doesn't come up often for sale.

It's conveniently located only a few miles away, but NO THANKS!

100V/Jap power/inop/tonearm pipe missing (and pretty unobtanium)

It has 10 bids already. The power supply is probably fixable. Wonder if a pipe from a px-2 or 3 would work once the sliding weight was removed.

I agree. The power supply problem is probably an easy fix. One would hope that whatever took out the power supply didn't injure the incredibly complicated circuitry in the turntable. I thinkl that one could possibly even improve on the original arm tube with carbon fiber or a 3D printed super tube with internal bracing. Either way if someone get it working again they will be a happy camper.

I have had discussions with a fellow who lived in Japan and owned nearly all of the elite Direct Drive turntables(eg Pioneer Exclusive P3/ Sony PSX-9/ Technics SP10 Mk III/ Denon DM 100/ Onkyo PX-100M/Kenwood L-07D/ and more that I can't remember). He actually loved using the PX-1 because he said that it was just as good as the others but was fully automated. It may be the best sounding automatic turntable in existence.

Could someone PM me a link to the auction? I don't want to bid(can't afford to). Just want to check it out.

Thanks truckrglenn. Beautiful turntable. I can't believe that he hasn't tried to get it working. I found the room it was in more interesting. With that huge sculpture of the face and the Chairs that are like upturned palms of a hand. Curiouser and curiouser.

I know the of the seller. Deals in a lot of gear from the Japanese only market. N. Jersey is a kind of hotbed for dealers of the obscure.
