Oh for the love of Pete! Why does all this good stuff have to be so far away!

Any AKers out east: looks like an Onkyo TX-6500 going for a princely sum of $20!

No way would I sell my Onkyo TX-6500 for $20. I'v had mine since new and that's a stupid low price for such a nice receiver.

good luck. very good receiver at any price

Oh boy!

hey rushfan, you listening to that Onkyo yet?

I'm this close to bringing her home! A colleague from work has agreed to Pony Express the receiver to me in a couple of weeks. She lives um... 125 miles closer to it than me, LOL!

Believe it or not, it won't go down as my best score ever but you guys have got me excited about it for sure. I'm buying it to listen to, not to flip.

you will find lots of love for that model here at AK. It's a keeper, esp if you play records. Congratulations!!! :thmbsp:

Eddantes, you were right. It is a TX-6500 MKII!!

Right now it is sitting in the back of my colleague's SUV. She'll bring it to me next week when she visits the city. I can hardly wait.

I downloaded the SM and had a look at the specifications. 87dB S/N ratio in a phono section is good, is it not?

It's here!

Good Karma today! The Onkyo has arrived at last.

Definitely my largest receiver. She's going to need a good scrubbing, inside and out. I'm a little surprised at the lack of power meters, but loving the dual phono inputs.

Sorry, no pics yet. I'll snap a few tomorrow.

eddantes - thanks again for tip! That was a classy thing to do.

Bummer. The receiver powers up but there's no sound, at least through the headphone jack.

I tried all of the obvious stuff - pulling the amp/pre-amp jumpers, checking the fuse at the back, cycling through the different input selectors. It's dead silent.

All but two lights are burned-out too. No big deal at this point.

Does this thing have a relay? There's no click when I turn it on.

How about the fuses inside?
