...I swear I hit the "submit new thread" button the first time I tried to post this 2 hours ago...

Over Labor Day weekend I was lucky enough to catch a fresh CL ad for a near-mint pair of Ohm E2's. They sound very nice and currently have my EPI 100's and ADS L570's kicked out of the main system. The high frequencies are a tad hot, but a quick trim with the tweeter control switch smoothed them out. These speakers really shine with vocals, Johnny Cash's "Hurt" sounded both sepulchral and intimate and Johnathan Edwards' harmonica was brilliant.

One question: the Ohm websites lists this model at 4ohm, but the plate on the front of the cabinet says they are "8/6." What do you make of that?

I plopped George Benson's "White Rabbit" on the turntable this morning with the idea of having a little background music while I got ready for work. I had picked up this album on a whim at the flea market last weekend, just because I liked the cover and saw Herbie Hancock's name with the accompanying musicians.

Wow! The opening strings of the title track made me stop and sit in the sweet spot, wound up being 15 min late for work. Good thing I have a flexible schedule! :)

I have a pair of those around here some where. They sound pretty good. Did you see the tweeter upgrade that ohm offers for those?Pretty cool that they still support 20 year old speakers.

I did see that and at $110 it's tempting. I'll probably live with these as-is for awhile and see where my other projects take me.

I'm also happy that you can still buy replacement drivers right through their website, no mucking around with a phonecall to a customer service rep.

The ones I have are in pretty tough shape cabinets are all faded and coming apart. I think maybe they were stored somewhere damp. Its too bad they were really nice with real wood venier.
