One vintage gear you wish was being mass-produced again

I wouldn't mind seeing Dual 12xx series TTs again. The problem, though, is that a $250 1229 in 1972 would be $1,304 in today's money. German engineering sure doesn't come cheap!

Oracle Paris turntable. I'd buy another one, just to make sure I'll ALWAYS have a Paris.

Also Quad 66 preamp.

Teac "A" series reel to reel tape decks. Also would like AR to start producing genuine replacement drivers for their classic speakers, starting with tweeters for the 3a and LST series.

Hell, any good R2R, but especially the Technics 1500 series, Revox B77 series, Pioneer RT-707 and 909. Of course the TEACs. But that would mean there is a big demand (if mass-produced) which is what I would really like to see.

Speak of the devil, how about the various flavors of Ampex, later renamed Quantegy, magnetic tape???

Would you not choose a Clearaudio equivalent for the same money??? :D

A Marantz 19 receiver would be great. Also, those Dynaco mono tube amps would be very welcome. The old high-end JBL speaker systems would be a real kick, as would the home versions of the Altec "Voice of the Theater" speakers.

I can dream, can't I?

I've never heard a Fisher 400. I'd like to see those produced just to see what all the fuss is about.

Markshan, I have two Fisher 400's and can vouch for their amazing sound. Nothing from the SS era of comparable price sounds even close, in my opinion.

Though, the SS pieces surely surpass it is terms of sheer power.

If you were in the NYC or Tampa area, I would give you an audition.

The fuss is well deserving!!

Cheers

How about one of those bigole Zenith consoles. The 6 footers with the color TV in the middle, turntable on one side and AM/FM on the other. Speakers everywhere. And made of REAL solid woods! Fantastic sound.

My daughter even has a remote:D

Sooner or later.

A pair of those W-6M 70-Watt tube amps would be nice.

On the search radar at this moment. I need these (need is such a subjective term) as part of my Heathkit amp collection. So far pair of W4s, W5s, W7s. Got to fill in the numbers ya know.

Let's put it together:

Vintage Fisher, Harmon-Kardon, Scott, McIntosh, Marantz, Dynaco and Heath tubed equipment.

I can't think of anything I'd like to see produced again, because it would be so expensive that I'd just buy the original. I'd say my Luxman 5L-15 but they already kind of do that with the L-505u, at least from a looks standpoint. But it's $3500...which, actually...is probably about what the 5L-15 was when it was new, adjusted for inflation.

Vintage Sony Receivers: 6060F, 6200 and 6120. All Mac quality built. The 6060F: excellent FM tuner, 5 gangs completely shielded:banana: very good phono and amp ; great sound. The 6200: same built but with more power. The 6120 has a somewhat different voicing.
