Opinions sought on Cerwin Vega D3

It depends. What kind of music do you like? I have a pair of D-3's that I got about a year ago. They were given to me but one woofer needed foam and, since both were run HARD without foam, the other had an open coil to boot.

One of the tweeters was open, also. I could have refoamed/reconed but I opted to buy replacement woofers and tweeters from PE. So I have about $100 in them now.

My opinion? They're worth $100. They're headbanger speakers (ported design) so the classical/jazz enthusists will probably knock them. I've heard better speakers, but I've heard worse. Like my BIC Formula 6's they shine on hard rock and metal and they "slam" for every bit of their size. I like them for that factor. I actually use them on my HHScott 299 because they're so efficient.

Make sure the foam is ok and that all drivers work before bidding and take all that into account (along with shipping/transportation charges) in the final price.

Best,
Brian

I have 3 pair of D-9's and a pair of vs120's rock and roll they do well.

If they're like my D7's, they have VERY good bass, even with non original woofers.

Do make sure the foam is okay though. The reason mine don't have the original woofers in them is because the surrounds are destroyed on the original woofers.

I have a pair of D5s that sound very good. I had to refoam mine, the original orange foam is available on ebay.

 I'd love to have a pair of 7's for my Carver M1.0t (200w/ch) power amp. I can hear wedding bells (and knocking at the door) right now!

I have owned a pair of D-3 since 1986. I love the way they sound. To me, they are not a particularly bassy speaker, but rather flat. But, opinions and ears do vary! I've been told by some vistors that they sound great, others have said they are the worst speakers they've ever heard. But to my ears (the most important) they are great speakers.:music:

They do excel with rock, but I do enjoy listening to classical on them also. They are super efficient so they do not require a lot of power to run.

I have had the woofers refoamed and have gone through the crossovers. So, if these have not been rebuilt, please take that in consideration.

Best of luck.

If they were all orginal with decent foams, I'd go for it, if they were in need of foams, deduct the $30.00 dollars you'll spend at Speaker Exchange for the surround kit.
