After decades of becoming a lytic guru due to all the rebuild/re capping projects Ive done, finally got around to looking into a Corsair TX 650 bronze rated power supply. Bronze rated for performance my butt.
Was HORRIFIED to see, and not completely surprised, that all of the electrolytic capacitors were the dreaded black third tier CapXcon pieces of junk. Definitely going to recap it with authentic tier one Nichicon PS/PW, and from Mouser since counterfeit rates are horrendous now (verified reliable supplier).
There has been about 2 decades now worth of discussion on all the failure and bad performance rates on PS, if not all major electronics that still engineer lytics into the designs. No wonder. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tier lyrtic manufacturers coming out of China are getting worse, not better. Have dug into 3 LED/LCD TVs and 2 monitors also in the past 5 years, and was the same story. ALL 3rd and 4th tier lytics. Even had my main LED TV 'magically' show features that did not show before after a recap. It was only 3 months old. Flat out, from experience, looked about a full 45% better. Again this was on a brand new 3 month old LED tv.
