Other Vinyl Storage Options

We all know about storing vinyl vertically, about using inner sleeves with the opening offset from the opening of the outer jacket, using outer sleeves to protect the jacket, etc.

What are some other storage methods?

I'm considering storing vinyl in inner sleeves only with manila folder material to prevent warping, or storing vinyl in inner sleeves outside and behind their jackets, or some other way. My main concerns are to (1) save some space, (2) keep the jackets separate to prevent them from being damaged, and (3) avoid the release of dust and VOCs from old jackets.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think you worry too much. Be smart about storage and you should be fine. You pretty much covered it in the first sentence.
 
I seriously can't fathom album jackets outgassing VOC's after all these years. I may be wrong however.
 
The main reason I thought aboit this was reducing space. Apparently there are a few people that do this for various reasons.

I'm talking about like 4000 records so getting rid of the jackets could result in big space savings.
 
Are you planning on tossing the jackets, or just storing them somewhere else?
 
I had a friend who had lots of albums....lots. He kept them out of the listening space & had a milk crate. He'd fill the milk crate with what he wanted to listen to & put them back & got more when those were done. Solves the problem of thousands of LPs taking up the living space.
 
The record jacket art represent a good portion of this hobby.!
Wouldn't be the same if they were removed from the activity.
Just like mentioned above, I keep a box, or two, near my table with the records that are in the current playing cycle.
My record collection is at the other end of the room.
If i'm looking for something to play it is quite often choosen by the memories of the jacket art..

I tear the covers off all my magazines, and store them separately. Same for books - separate covers are the way to go - no more judging the books by them, so reading them is like a double-blind test!

I separate my raisins from my Raisin Bran, and flatten and store all cereal boxes separately from the cereal. For my digital files, all the zeroes go in one big bin, and all of the ones in another - never the twain shall meet again.

It's nice to finally get organized!!!
