P560...?

Hi to all!

Please what is this very rare Mac gear called P560?

I guess this is a phono section but I cannot find any info about it... RIAA included? MC step-up? Someone believes it is a C28 phono section stand alone...

Thanks for clarification!

Guglielmo

I note that there was a recent eBay auction of one of these. From the photos, I see that there's an Italian manufacturing source and its listed as 220v/50hz. I would have expected it to be from Binghamton, NY.

Wasn't there some sort of European manufacturing of Mac gear at one point?

I'd be calling the factory before they close for the summer.

Cheers,

David

I could be wrong but my instinct is that McIntosh Labs did not make that P560 phono preamp. I could not find any info on that in any of my McIntosh reference info.

This could be something the importer made with McIntosh parts.

I added some pics from the auction.

If the unreferenced source saying its the C28 phono section, I'd doubt it since the Phono section inside the C28 shares its board with other components and would not fit into that oblong box.

Cheers,

I can say with almost 100% certainty that is not genuine McIntosh equipment.
They have only 1 plant and it’s in Binghamton, NY.
There was probably some early stuff made in Silver Springs, MD, but that was a long time ago…

Thanks to all for contribution!

Doubtless it's a very scarce and mysterious gear, I would ask McIntosh Labs...

Cheers,

Guglielmo
