Paradigm 7se

I feel kind of foolish even starting this thread. I'm by no means a dedicated collector. For me, this all started with a pair of Paradigm 7se's that I found on a Facebook garage sale site. Since then, fantastic deals have dropped into my lap and I have gotten very fortunate in acquiring some really decent items with a very minimal investment of time and money. I've collected more stuff than I use in the two years since. I've listened to these Paradigms for maybe a few hours as I almost immediately stumbled upon better speakers and it seems stupid to keep them around when there is little chance of me listening to them. For some of you, you're real hobbyists and dedicate a lot of time and money into this hobby. For me, I just like music and look for the best sound I can achieve for the least amount of money. I've never sold any of my stereo equipment. Still have my first system (Onkyo TX-35 & KEF Coda III's) which I bought new at age 17.

I'm trying to figure out a realistic value of these Paradigms. They're in nice shape. I don't think they're worth enough for me to go through the trouble of packaging them, so Ebay seems out. I couldn't even find a recently sold auction of them to give me an indication of value. On CL in these parts, a guy has a pair of 9se's and he's trying to get $260. I think he had them even higher at one point as I swear I saw his ad a few months ago. I don't have unrealistic expectations. I know they're worth much less. How should I price them? I want to sell them but don't want to give them away. If I was going to do that, I'd just give them to someone I know. It would seem that CL is the most logical place to sell them. Should I be considering something else? Do you just list an item at the price you want and wait for as long as it takes to get your price?

7SE Mk II is about an 80-120 per pair set. 260 for the 9 is too high. I don't know for sure about the non-mark speakers.

I have a pair of the Paradigm 5SE MKII speakers. I bought them new and enjoyed them as my main speakers for several years. My notes show that they are comparable to the 7SE speakers, though I believe that the 7SE used a different tweeter (Vifa?). Mine are 24" H x 10 3/4 W x 11 D. You might want to see if there are any recent sales on the 5SE MKII's, as I see them pop up for sale more frequently than the older 7SE.

I'm curious - what are the dimensions on yours? How about the exterior finish - wood veneer or vinyl? (Mine are a walnut patterned vinyl with a port located on the front).

i like paradigm
tho i no longer have any except bookshelf
i have had all of the SE
i thought the 9 was the best
i just traded my 11se mk11 for a sansui AU-G99X
i was asking 350 canadian so probly around 275 US

i found them kind of dark sounding, great bass, good rock speaker.
but others love em

Nothing wrong with Paradigm speakers. What don't you like about them? Those are the speakers that put Paradigm on the map.
They're fine. I just have speakers that are better. I got these and immediately stumbled upon a pair of Infinity Kappa 5.1's, ADS L1290's, and a pair of KEF 103/3's with KUBE. I barely got to listen to the Paradigms. They sound good, but not up to my other speakers. I don't see myself ever putting them into production.

I'm leaning toward that $80-$100 range. It seems fair. I started collecting to hear different stuff, not to flip. This will be my first sale, and it's funny how I almost don't want to even though I know I won't use them. I don't want to become a hoarder. :)

Mine are the exact same measurements as yours. Ported on the front. Vinyl walnut veneer. Thanks for the tip.

Dark is how I find these 7se's. I don't need bright, but I need more top end than they give. They do seem to do well with rock.

I have a pair of 7s I got for $70 on CL. It was a front door transaction with a college student who needed cash, so I wasn't going to try and get a deal. Didn't know that they need new tweets. Replacements were on the bay and the sound fine today.

They don't get much use right now, but they will soon. They are keeper for me.

Spread the love in my opinion. Decide on a price you are comfortable with. Some will appreciate and enjoy them. Let's hope so.

You got them cheap ? raise your price a ten bucks over what you got them for.

They'll be out in no time, someone will enjoy them for a while and you'll get space for another pair of speakers.

I get my gear real low price, enjoy cleaning it the best I can, then I often resale it with about 5% profit.

I enjoy and let others enjoy too.

There are some flippers around here who don't understand that. They want 300% profit.

What i'm still trying to understand is that they end up selling gear at huge prices.

I got my 7se and a pair of Target real heavy stands that were immaculate for 60$ can.

Got 75$ for the speakers and stands, made a teen real happy and got to meet nice people !

'' Passez au suivant '' they say in french.

People get suspicious if the price is low. Almost too good to be true.

I think the ad is key. I've seen people selling the same thing as I do for less, and don't sell them. If you write a good ad, it will sell itself.
