Philips DVP?

Anyone know anything about this player?

Lots of features I like.. the ability to plug in an external drive and listen to your MP3's or watch your digital movies you have on the drive.. the ability to view pictures from a flash drive, will play about any kind of disk you can throw at it...

Yeah.. I know... it's Phillips, but I reall don't want to spend a fortune on some super duper high end player..

Well.. found a few writeups on this, and it's kind of making me want to look around a little more.

One issue I saw was if you connect an external drive, if it has more than 648 files on it, it will either not recognize the drive, or it will only display the first 648 files that were put on the drive, and it also shows the files in the order they were put on. Not in an alphabetical order.

Does anyone know of a good DVP that will allow you to connect an external drive like this, and will play most any kind of movie or music file?
 
I was looking at that one a little, and also looking pretty hard at the Pioneer DV410... Sounds like the 410 is a decent player, but hit or miss with usb drives working. Looks like there is some decent third party firmware written for it too...

The Oppo was a little more than I was wanting to spend.. BUT.. if it's less headaches... I'll go read up on it for a while...
