Has anyone tried Phoenix Record Cleaning Fluid from Sleevetown.com? I was wondering how it compared to some of the other fluids available for a record cleaning machine.

I had thought about trying it out but haven't yet. Buy some then report back to us. I just got 3 refills of D4 after being out for so long. I had no luck whatsoever locating any locally in the whole Phoenix metro area and so I finally ordered some from the NeedleDoctor.

I'm also interested in feedback re Pheonix since it is less than half the price of DD, VPI, Last etc. The 8 oz bottle is around $10 and I might give it a try. I'v been useing VPI fluid for my VPI 16.5 RCM.

Go over to the asylum where you will find a number of posts re Phoenix. All in all sounds like it does an acceptable job of cleaning records from what they said.

I guess I'll give it a try, the gallon is about 25.00 which is less than 1/2 the price of some of the other cleaning liquids. I've been burnt before but who knows? I might discover a gem instead of coal :D

Old thread-but for those who are interested. I have used this system for a number of years, and it works great. The kit with the special microfiber cloth is a great starter, add a quart for $16.95, and another one or 2 cloths, and you will be set for a while if you hand clean. It incorporates enzymes, along with alcohol (to dry quicker).
I start with the Mofil brush, and end with the microfiber cloth. Soak the cloths when in Woolite, and air dry.
Apparently it works well with a machine also, but haven't gotten a machine yet.
They also make a alcohol free formula for 78's

I use it as a 1st step with dirty used records, and I spread it, let it sit for a few mins, then vacuum, since it has enzymes... let it sit and work on the grunge. Works fine. I follow with Mofi and then distilled water rinse.

I use it by the gallon. Works great. Can be a little "sudsy" if applied too liberal, but a good rinsing takes care of it. I use it as a mid-step before AIVS. spyderx is right, it has enzymes so I let it sit as long as possible before vac'ing. You can also opt for the alcohol free solution.

+1. Good stuff.

Ive been using it for some time now. It gets the job done I suppose at a premium price.

Does anyone know the exact ingriedents for this solution? Is it worth the extra coin rather than the standard homebrew: Distilled/IPA/Dawn solution?

Since there is no ingriedents listed, im thinking I am paying a premium for water and alcohol in a nice black bottle with a cool phoenix rising logo.
