Phono Pre Amp for Jolida FX10

I currently have an inexpensive phono pre amp [Esoteric Sounds Rek-O-Kut Professional Phono Preamp MKII] that works fine with my AV receiver. Can anyone recommend a decent one for my Jolida set up or...if I am happy with what I have will it suffice?

I have seen some Yaqin tube pre amps like the MS 22B that are in my price range. Any good?

Might want to try a project tube box s. I just put one into my set up a couple of weeks ago, replacing a Cambridge 640. It mates well with my Jolida tube integrated. For $450 it is a nice mid range upgrade, that has adjustable gain and loading for mm or mc carts. It has a great soundstage and smoothness to it, and is quiet. Do a little tube rolling to please your sonic palette, and enjoy.

Seems like an obvious choice would be a Jolida JD9. They're about $500 if you are looking for that price range. They are hybrid SS with tube output stage. They are well liked by AK'ers and can be modded later if you're into that sort of thing. I've never actually heard one so take my advice carefully. However, I do have one on order...it should arrive in a few weeks. :thmbsp:

Went with the Yaqin...

I decided to give the Yaqin MS22B a shot, I figured I couldn't lose with the $186.00 landed price. Well...it's not bad at all and with some pre planned tube rolling [Mullards] I think it will serve it's purpose. We will see as it breaks in.

I'll consider the Jolida mentioned here when I decide to up grade to a larger amp...but for now I am happy with what this little unit does and I think it is more on par with the FX 10. I will roll some tubes on it as well ;)

Congrats on making a decision. That can sometimes be the hardest part given the array of really excellent gear out there.

Break in can be surprising.... or not. I've experienced both. Sounds like you've got something you like, not easy to choose with so many out there now. I ended up with the Opera Consonance PM-1 in my sig for cheap (used) and really love it. Huge separate power supply connected by umbilical, 18 lbs. total. Just sounds clean and open and detailed and really responds to tube rolling as well. Where I ended up.

I got to bump this up from the dead…just picked up a FX10 and I'm looking for a preamp. Currently running a Dual 1249 with M95ED and Jico SAS into a NAD 7120 and out the tape. It's not bad, but I think the staging could be much better. I don't like harsh or over bearing highs. Budget is a concern, so the JD9 just can't happen right now.

Not sure if I have a preference for tube or SS in the pre, lots of what I've read with the tube pre's is they can be noisy. That is, unless you mod them or spend a bundle. The Yaqin has been on my radar, but not being able to see or hear most of these before buying is driving me nuts.
