Picked up a Sony PS-3300

Picked up this Sony PS-3300 at an estate sale Sat. 1/2 price day. Needed some TLC, needed the auto return gear. Had a AT70 cart under the platter, the stylus tip is gone. So got the 3300 cleaned up and was going to order the auto return gear. But I had a Sony PS-LX2 parts table. Pulled the platter. The return section looked almost identical to the 3300, except the gear was on the platter instead of the shaft, but looked identical. Used a hair drier to loosen it up & removed the gear. Put on the 3300 shaft & adjusted it. Now I have the auto return functional. Now any hints to the best way to polish out some scratches on the cover?

I might try one of the auto headlight restoration kits on a small part of the cover to take out scratches.

Ok. Got a problem. Got the auto return working. Now If I move the arm from the rest I can't manually move the arm back to the rest without pushing he return button or letting it it finish playing out the record.
