Pics of your listening space

Very nice! I'm 25; it's always nice to see other younger people into audio. Most of my friends my age don't really care about hifi or quality music reproduction, just what's convenient. :sigh:

24 Over here. :thmbsp:

Well I must say that I'm quite pleased that the under 30 crowd here seem to be picky about their audio and their components. A lot of them are quite nice.

(Admit a bit of jealousy here.....;) )

My eldest daughter is somewhere in between. She has her android smartphone, but she stuffs the highest bit depth files on it, and she bought a really good set of earbuds.
As for her own system, It's a Samsung all-in-one unit (a rescue from the recyclers) but she picked up some Polk Audio 5" 2-ways. So she's dipping her toe in the better audio, but since she's just finished high school and looking for a better job, money is allocated elsewhere.

Rather like Bigcatlover, Im also 22, I live in the UK (Lincoln), and also love my Technics kit! Here is my current system, modest but it sounds perfect in its location. Paired with a small sub, it has done me proud. I have always been interested in hifi but only got my first system together 3 years ago when I started university and was inspired by some of my housemates (now good friends) who brought systems with them. Also put a picture up of my other very niche hobby, restoring vintage Heuer dashboard mounted time pieces!

Absolutely awesome to see younger guys getting into vintage audio.

Carry on, gentlemen.

im 25 and enjoy a good listening in my reclined easy chair with glass of oak aged whiskey. :smoke:

When i talk about my system at work, most of the people give funny looks and a "why would ya buy something that old?"...

I am sort of new to some of this. What are the little boxes on top?

On top of mine? The larger one to the left is a pre-amp - the Technics is an integrated but I use it only as a power amp, the control signal come from the HLLY pre, this way I have the convenience of a remote - also love the way the combo sounds. The two smaller boxes are a DAC (digital to analogue converter) and its stand alone PSU - this takes the digital music signal from my laptop via USB and converts it to analogue, not a necessary piece of kit but it makes the system sound infinitely better, as laptops generally have naff sound cards - this bypasses the laptops card.

So interesting! Why didn't they try to steer me towards this stuff in school. I love it! I am learning so much. Thanks, miniman.

Here are some close ups. I got very lucky finding these. Near perfect condition.

Just out of curiosity, where did you find them? I've seen your Austin craigslist ad for a while now, have you sold them yet? I wish I could be this lucky to "find" these!! My best score were some beaten up L96's for $100

Really bad acoustically however this here's just testing equipment for a school setup, all from my storage shelf.

Equipment is a TOA A912 MkII amp hooked to a Niles SSVC-4 speaker switch. SSVC-4 is only there to keep the load down to a proper 4 ohms rather than running 5 speakers in parallel and running a half ohm load.

I am going to do a writeup and recommend they buy a proper speaker amp, Crown XLS1000 or something of that nature. The original "amp" in use was an Onkyo TX-NR609 that lost all sound capabilities. Video switching works and as such it's still there but there is absolutely no sound output. Afterwards someone brought in a 90s Denon AVR that was working fine until Friday when the A channel ouputs gave up.
