Pioneer Elite/Urushi components

Hi all,

Ever since I purchased a Pioneer PD-75 cd player and having popped its hood ... well... I've become in love (don't know if that is too strong of a stament!) with the TODL Pioneer gear of this period (late 80's and early 90's).

Luck would have it I've placed some pieces that I might have a shot at purchasing.

In one hand, there is this guy in my city that sells a C73 preamp, an M73 amp, and an F93 tuner for possibly around 1000€. What would you make of that? He's the first owner and I can literally meet him and go see the system for inspection. Sure sounds like a safe deal here if we agree on price.

On the other hand, I've located an A-91D integrated in Naples, Italy for around 550€. I know what you're thinking. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!! Maybe, that's what I'm thinking. I've crossed a few emails with the guy. He seems pretty active seller there (although not in a platform like ebay or similar where I can see he's rep. It's more like a local craig'slist).

Anyways, I offered COD he insists on payment first and says he'll do Paypal. I don't think I'm going forward with this but I'm trying to locate someone in Naples for a transaction in hand and shipment to me. I live in Spain.

I'm leaning towards the integrated. Easier system, plus it looks like a rare beast.

What you think of the prices and scenarios?

Thanks all

55O Euros for a Pioneer A-91D integrated is a very good price if it's working 100%,and is in good condition.
Back in the summer,I purchased a near mint fully working one for £750.00 from a mate.I have no regrets as it's an awesome amp,in fact I think it's the heaviest at nearly 30kg integrated amp that Pioneer ever made.

I not 100%,but if he accepts PayPal I think you'll be covered against possible loss, damage,or fraud,as long as you don't pay him via PayPal Gift.
And as previously stated,it's real heavy,so insist that it's packed extremely well if you decide to go ahead with the deal.

Thanks Daunia 70,

I'll look into Paypal. Sounds tempting but I fear that for one thing or another they might leave you in the dust if something happends and then it's endless paper work and an eternity in time.

Also, are you happy with yours? How does it sound and how's the phono section?

Might go see the pieces near me in parallel! :D

Yep,I'm really happy with mine.It sounds real great via my Pioneer PD-91 CDP.I always use the direct button which cuts out the tone controls.I haven't connected up a turntable to it yet,but from what I've heard the phono section is excellent.
