Pioneer PL-A25

Working on the restoration of a Pioneer PL-A25 TT. I'm able to find service manuals for the PL-A35 and 45 but they are not exactly the same mechanism as the 25. Can anyone point me top a service manual?

Checked all the free sites.....NADA. Best bet at this point is probably E-PREY.

Fluffy had begun building a home in this one. Otherwise it's in remarkable condition. Fluffy chewed all the tonearm leads so that required a tedious solder splice job. Same for the motor AC supply. The rotary camswitch attached to the Warren motor was badly oxidized and removing it and the contacts and traces was successful but painstaking. After installing a Shure M95ED cartridge it sounds great. The last problem however has me stumped. Auto stop works but the tonearm stops just short of coming to rest in the support. I'm unable to locate a service manual for this specific model. The A45 and A35 manuals are not that helpful due to differences in the mechanism. Overall this is a really nice '70's TT and I'd like to complete a full restoration by solving this last issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

IIRC, there is some foam that disintegrates on part of the return mechanism. I’m away from home this weekend, but I may have a pic of the part you need to reattach a small piece of weatherstripping/foam to.

Fantastic. I picked up a thread about the "foam" but couldn't seem to find any pictures or specific information. Thank You!

I thought I had a pic but I can't find it and currently do not have access to an A25. I did find an image from the PL A35 manual that may point you in the right direction.

If you look under the turntable (remove the bottom, platter, & headshell and flip it over) you can move the tonearm to see the mechanical operation and how the levers/pins interface. You'll see some glue residue on the return lever where there should be a 1/4" (ish) thick piece of foam.

The 'spongy looking thing' to the right of the top of the pin is the aforementioned foam.

Thank you mikiekimi. That was indeed the issue and a replacement piece of spacer block fixed the return arm problem. Your attached illustration is spot on and apparently the 25,35 and 45 use that common part and mechanism.

Buongiorno a tutti.
