Pioneer PL550 blowing strobe light fuse

Hey Guys,

I picked up a pl550 a year or so ago and finally started messing with it. The strobe light was out and and when I opened the bottom the fuse had corrosion. I cleaned the corrosion with deoxit and replaced the fuse with 250v 100ma. The strobe light came on, flickered for 2-3s and blew the fuse again. Any suggestions on what I should look for next would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Hey Cassidy,
My guess is that you have a bad capacitor between the fuse and the strobe light. I don't know the pl-550 well enough to tell you how to check, but you should start with the tech manual at https://www.vinylengine.com/. Good luck!
