can anyone recommend someone to repair (recone) a pair of 14" passive radiators with a spring spider suspension? the original cones are in pretty bad shape.

Was not familiar with these so I looked them up. Beryllium tweeters, 84 lb, quite expensive speakers in the early 80s.

Might be someone here who has an idea about how to get your PR's fixed. GordonW is speaker repair guy, you might send him a message. Or better yet, post this over in the Speakers forum.

The trick is going to be getting the right cones in terms of material, stiffness and most importantly, mass.

What exactly has happened to them? Can you post some pics?

BTW this was on HiFiEngine (user comment):

"Ultra rare. The HOLY GRAIL of Pioneer speakers for many. The top of the line Pioneer speakers in the early 80's. According to the Pioneer database, these retailed for $1700 a pair back in 1983. Considered by many to be the best speakers Pioneer ever made. Authoritative sonic composure, revealing yet unfussy nature. Even tonal balance. The beryllium tweeters assist in providing absolutely stunning stereo imaging. Impressive engineering. They don't make them like this anymore. If you are lucky enough to find a pair on this side of the pond, buy them."

Definitely sound worth fixing!

BTW, welcome to AK.
