Pioneer SX-1010 aux not working

Hi, I just bought an SX-1010 of craigslist the other day and all seems to work fine but just when I plug a cd player into the aux jack I get nothing. All the other inputs seems to work fine.

Can anyone help me possibly fix this problem my self?

put the function switch to phono (anything but aux)

set dmm to ohms

connect the black dmm lead to the phono ground screw.

probe the center conductor of both (one at a time) aux input jacks with the red dmm lead..

You should read 100 ohms to ground.

if not, r10 and r11 on the aws-069 board have been burned out by a way too hot input to aux. 100 ohms 1/4w carbon film, 1/4watt = 5 volts and up. The inputs are shorted to ground through the resistors when that input isn't selected.

you will also see 100 ohms from the aux in center connection to the tape 1 rec out jack center connection when tape one is pressed
 
According to the documentation I have, the only difference between the AUX function and TAPE or tuner inputs is the switches. Cleaning the switches might be all that is necessary.

EDIT: Of course, I'll defer to MTF's superior experience. While the switches are exposed for cleaning, those resistors are right there on board.

So I got around to spraying deoxit into the switches as best I could from just taking off the cover and sticking the straw in there and spraying and also spraying from the front through the button and the aux input works fine now!

Not sure why I didnt spray first before posting. But I also have a problem with all the 8v lamps not working. All the function lights light up except the AM but none of the 8v lamps light up. I tested all of them with a multimeter and only one seemed to be short but I replaced all of them with good 8v lamps and still nothing lights up.

Any ideas as to why the 8v lamps wont light up?

Test for voltage referenced to chassis ground at the lamp holders. You may also want to look into the dimmer switch assembly, cleaning those switch contacts as well.
 
I cleaned the dimmer switch and the voltages seem to be ok but im not sure if im checking the right areas. Maybe you can be more specific as im not very knowledgeable with this
 
Measure voltage from each end of the lamps to a chassis ground. One end of each lamp should have around 7V or slightly more at the normal brightness position on the dimmer control.

Does the dial pointer light operate? If not, one common connection for all those lamps is a ground on the lamp assembly/ board. If you measure the same source voltage on both ends of a lamp, chances are the ground is not connected.
