I guess the new game is to copy a listing and set a "buy it now" price below the current bid. It is not clear how they would get to keep the cash. It is a new scam everyday it seems for highly desirable vintage gear. This seems like a cat fishing scam.

I would guess it has to be coupled with a stolen PayPal account, and then they probably transfer the funds into crypto...

Was it a new seller? Typically new sellers need to wait a while to collect their money after the buyer receives their product.

Both gone now.
Wonder if it was the multi color hijacker.

The alerts I got today for the multi color hijacker both showed two listings, both gone when I checked on them.
I have alerts set for items the hijacker is known to list. For obvious reasons I pick obscure items, where at any time only a couple might be listed. Rather than a Pioneer SX-1250 (could be anything that is always for sale on ebay in numbers) where a dozen or more might be listed at any given time.
Thing is, once you are familiar with the hijacker and watch some of his items his images will jump out at you as soon as you see them.

BTW the "buy it now" price changed this morning from $2,000 to $3,000. I also believe it is a violation of eBay rules to respond to a private email address. That may be the reason the second ad was removed.

The second ad was a scam. That’s why it was removed.

They are trying to get buyers to respond and pay off site from ebay.
I haven't looked that far into it but I suspect they demand a payment method that provides no recourse for recovering a payment made.

They don't have the items anyways.

ive been reporting this guy almost every weekend for over a year. he usually posts on saturday very early using a stolen account that he imports his fake stuff to. if you look under other items for sale it brings you to hundreds of them. always the same stuff from copied ads. sometimes he's back on right away through a new stolen account. i guess he figures ebay doesnt have much help on weekends as it does take a few hours or more until he's blocked.

Sadly the world's full of AH's and there are far more ways of making money electronically without repercussions opposed to the old ways of robbing banks.
Unfortunately it's the way of the world and as the old saying goes "necessity is the mother of all invention" and as the world puts more people out of work then we'll find more folks turn to dishonest means to gain the money they used to earn legitimately.
