Pix of my old stereos

While organizing and scanning a box of photos and slides I came across some shots of my old stuff! Not all of it, but some fond memories washed over me.
First is my Marantz 1060 and a Teac cassette with outboard dolby. I had a pair of AR4x and some big Staunton headphones.

With the Pioneer turntable (PL-25?)

A couple of Navy buddies and I lived in the studio of radio station WKWF in Key West. They had larger stereos but I don't have photos of them.

We had our very own listening room. About 10' square and sound proof. The legs are those of Vick Daultry in a relaxed position probably listening to Zappa. The stereo was in a different room.

I can't figure out what system this one is. It's been over 35 years, but it was Vick's corner of the huge room.

Here's my system when me and Vicki moved to Lutz back in the early 80's...
I had 4 JBL 4311s.

Before I had the Yamaha amp/pre I had this JVC receiver. My friend still uses it these days.

About 12+ years ago we built a new house and I lived in the garage with variants of this system. Still had the JBL's. Rocking the neighborhood!

Just thought you'd like to see my past systems. Wish I could find more photos!

Nice photos of your system. I can tell you are a "tape nut" with all the decks. I really like the masonry blocks propping up the shelves and the shot of your friend relaxing listening to Zappa. :music: I bet that brought back memories.

Wonderful pix.

I keep a facebook album going (with computer backups) of every system incarnation I have had since '07 (there's at least 30, hehe), and it's pretty cool to see the evolution.

I saw a Pioneer RT-1020 in a couple of those pictures.

Still have it?

I still do! Just don't use it anymore and it needs lots of TLC. It's in storage and I'm afraid to look at it :tears: Sure brought me a lot of taping pleasure, though. Still have about a hundred reels of all kinds of stuff I need to archive.

Cool, David. Digital makes it so convenient nowdays. I've watched you grow since your first posts.

How can we see your facebook stuff? I have an account but can't navigate very well.

That shelf 'system' began in my bachelor days and lasted 10 years into our marriage. Vicki finally got sick of seeing it.

I was elated to find those old slides! What a cool pad we Navy guys had in Key West (actually Stock Island) :music:

A few more "memories"

Maybe the wrong thread to post this, but it's a follow-up to my original post.
After getting hitched and moving to a house in Key West ($75 a month) I decided to trade the 1060 for this Akai receiver. Wish I never did that! I was pretty dumb in those days but at least I liked components....

The Pioneer Turntable is hung from the ceiling. How about that brick used to keep the tapes in place? Pretty sure I still had the AR4x speakers.

1972. Vick Daughtry talking over our "PA" system. What a bachelor pad we cool cats had!

How many bachelor apartments had a gen-u-ine urinal!? And a big shower with no tub. I had 'speaker cubes' glued to the shower wall.

^The "WKWF Compound" from near the gate. About an acre of walled-in peace and quiet and a party place. There was a market and a burger joint nearby.

^Docs "Pad" was a small firnished apartment next to the studio. He had an awesome system....Mac C26 preamp, Phase Linear 400, and ML1C speakers in the 8'x12' back room. Best stereo I ever heard in those days!

Finally, the "listening Room" with it's normal lighting. Cheap plastic lamp with a red bulb. And the PA system worked in there so you never knew what to expect.....

That is too freaking cool Tapehead!! I wish I was into photography in the old days. So much was lost, only memories remain . . . if I can remember them Lol!! :thmbsp:

Mercury (really Ford) Capri

Apart from the cool audio pics, I see there's a Capri in the mix . . . . aahhhhh . . . memories, as I had a '72 with the V-6 and 4sp manual. Silver with red interior.

Many a fun time cruising with friends.

Thanks for the memories.

Cheers

I just built a shelf out of cinderblock and board today!

great pictures.

I like the modern JVC hidden in there!

A friend gave me that JVC. I used it for a short time as an 'emergency stereo' as it was on its last legs and layered with nicotine from the bar it was used in.

That was Doc's pride and joy. Bought brand new, V6 4-speed. Brown leather. Cool little car.

Thanks for the memories.

Cheers
