pl-50 arm lifter issues

I've got a pl-50 TT that I love. Recently it started not dropping the arm enough and it just skips across the top of the record. Maybe 40% of the time. The tt is very simple it's got a little fluctuating ramp it uses to drop the arm, I just think that ramp device is a little out of whack. Can anyone help me out? I'm pretty handy and heady I've just never had to break into my great wooden TT.

Hello, and welcome to AK. If your arm elevator is need of adjustment it can be raised or lowered quite easily. From the owner's manual -



Make sure there is some space between the bottom of the tonearm and the top of the elevator after the arm is lowered onto the record. If you have some space between the two when the arm is lowered and the arm still skates, check your tracking force and the condition of the stylus.
