This has got to be the best frigging music production I have EVER come across anywhere. I heard this on NPR today and watched the you tube video

Mark Johnson went around the world and recorded a songs performed by street musicians (playing for change). He starts with one (in the "stand by me" song he starts with Rodger Ridley in Santa Monica) and then records each next musician as an overlay. You'll see in the video that Ridley plays without headphones, but each next performer(s) have headphones on listening to the composite performance of the musicians that recorded the song before them

what an amazing idea to make music and what great music being made.

Thanks for reviving this thread! I tried to start a thread about this video series a while ago and it never took off. So many great performances, and I love the idea of people playing together all over the world. Somewhere there's a video explaining how they record them.
