Polk R50 opinions please

Had the R30, R20, and still have the R15's from that line, all used in a 5.1 rig.

ehhh, not terrible but not great. A better tweeter than that 3/4" would have opened up the high end, but would have added to the cost, of course.

Any of the older Boston Acoustic T series will offer superior 2 or 5 channel sound.
 
I have a pair of R50, and these are very good speakers - period. Not high end, but a wonderful bargain for their low price.

A 2 way design with good highs and mid. Could use a better bass, but no need for a sub.

Better suited for rock and pop than to jazz and classical music. Build quality is OK (but not furniture quality like the Castle or the older KEF). They come with spokes, but you won't need them.

I traded mine for a Pioneer SX780 in excellent shape. They are ok, and you can pick them up cheap, but in my opinion, they aren't keepers. If they sound good to you, than that is all that matters.
