Hey AK,

I recently acquired the Polk RM3000 speaker system consisting of the RM2000 (Monitor 2) Satellite Speakers and RM1000W Subwoofer. After not being able to find a manual for this system either on the web OR on Polk's Vintage section of their site, I emailed their tech support and got a copy! The guy was super helpful and had the manual to me within a day.

So to everyone looking for information on this system I have attached the manual. Enjoy! :music:

I recently acquired the Polk Reference Monitor System. The information available on the internet is bleak, almost non existent. This AK thread is gold. Thank you for the research and sharing the information.

Thanks for sharing. I had a hard time looking for the manual online. My 1st speaker system purchased are Polk Audio RM3000. I aquired a 2nd RM1000W and needed to find out how to add it to the system. System sounds great with one sub. But with 2, it should sound even better.

Thank you, DonnieBoy for posting the manual--your sharing is very much appreciated! I just purchased the RM3000 system on Craigslist and will set them up tomorrow now that I understand the wiring configuration(s). I remember when these first came out and thought at the time they were sounded better than the Bose AM-5's.

Thank you so much for this post. I have a Polk Audio RM3000 system that I bought new. I'm still using the monitors, but I've replaced the sub woofer with a powered 12" and I want to find a new owner for my still perfectly-performing RM1000. Having this instruction manual will answer a lot of questions for that new owner. Thanks so much!

Found the RM 1000W at a thrift store and need advice. I tested it with my 1993 Pioneer A/V receiver (80W per channel) and unsure if this power is enough to drive it or is a pre amp required? I am getting distortion and low output from the unit. Another speaker outputted normally.

It's not a speaker, it is a passive subwoofer and a very poor one at that.

I know it's a passive subwoofer but it's one connected to the left and right channel's front speaker amp outputs. I'm simply trying to learn if my AV receiver is inadequate to test the RM1000W's output and what I should be hearing from it.

Hook up as follows;
Run speaker cable to your speakers, then run speaker cable from your speakers to the inputs on the sub.
