This is the Science of a mental issue I feel some have on this site. A member starts a thread on how they are enjoying the hobby, post about what they are building and hearing. He just wanted to share his enjoyment with others, some shared in that.

Enter a bad mentality (all to often) in the thread, other members are demanding imperial scientific evidence, badgering and debating till the wheels fall of destroying any fun for other members.

I have a though quit crapping on other members threads, if you want to debate, gain evidence and look at life as a scientific project start your own thread. I don't know who you guy's think you are to go in others threads and demand anything.

I'll also add the members that tend to have this behavior tend not to share anything that they are doing, who knows what their reference point is. They live on this site in virtual anonymity, and all I can think of is they are afraid to show their ass.

Well the world was flat till they actually got in a ship and sailed till either one they fell off the earth or two they didn't. But until they actually did it it was science that the earth was flat.

Science changes and isn't written in granite.

I remember when I was a Kid and we looked at all the Continent on a map and said they look like a puzzle. Impossible!!! Well today they know better and in fact the earth had a great Continent Pangea before it broke apart.

Science changes and isn't written in granite.

I remember when I was a Kid, they told us that the Dinosaurs where wiped out by the Ice age. Today they tell us a different story, that an astroid hit Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.

So yeah, you got to have hands on and not be dismissive and have a open mind. .

Actually I think science has been pretty honest and consistent, it is the scientist and their followers that are inconsistent.

Still good, but it will be bad for us again when the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars.
Please send me an email when it's time, not that I'll stop drinking coffee or anything, I just want to know I'm harming myself.

I note that most of the discussion in this thread friendly, thoughtful and civil. Nobody has demanded anything, and the discussion has been consistently polite, positive, and friendly.

...Except for that from a participant or two. I suggest that before you accuse others of "demanding imperial scientific evidence, badgering and debating till the wheels fall of destroying any fun for other members", you take a look at some of these:
I see we have the same thread detailers in this one as all others and thats a sham.

So if people don't think that a power cable doesn't change or improve the sound of a system as do a lot of other cabling, oh well. Let them listen to noise in their system.

I bet my Psychoaudio system sounds better than Dave's Psychoaudio system.

Actually this thread wasn't started by the Pig for a debate. It was to share what he's doing with his system, something you never do.

...so stop telling people they don't hear what they say they do.

No that's not the topic of this thread, and the debate is always yours. ... your johnny on the spot to go in any thread that has a mention of a cable and run it off the rails. I wonder how many threads you'v been a part of that got closed on the OP.

If you want to constantly debate and have question on equipment you'v never used start your own cable threads instead of changing the topic and crapping on everyone else's

Dave I like you, but really you have a very bad habit of latching onto threads that are not yours and running them off the rails.
From the looks of things, it's not me -- or the others who have politely engaged in this thread -- "latching onto threads" and "running them off the rails", but reactions to the discussion. Looks like someone with a "bad mentality" has completely misunderstand the polite but probing tenor of the prior discussion, mistakenly assumed there is some sort of character assassination going on, and lashed out inappropriately.

This is a broad hobby, with many ways to enjoy it. Some of us enjoy discussing the reasons for what we hear, and that's just as valid as any other discussion. It's all "General Audio Discussion", isn't it?

I can't speak for others, but:
  • My interests are in electronics and music and the music industry and musical experience, not specific gear. I don't care what you or anyone else own, and I don't see any particular reason to bore anyone with what I own, particularly as showing gear sometimes seems more like showing off than sharing information;
  • Announcing that I own an <x> hasn't the slightest relevance to any discussion in this thread.
Indeed, I don't see how it has the slightest relevance to any discussion, given I've yet to see anyone mention any gear I happen to own. If someone posted a question about something I own and I can answer it, then I'll answer -- given my specific equipment knowledge is then obviously relevant -- but otherwise?

Irrelevant.

Furthermore, the notion of "reference point" -- which here often seems to be little more than showing off your gear to gain credibility -- is inappropriate in threads like this one. It is relevant if someone asks what a particular speaker or amplifier sounds like, but in threads like this one, the discussion is not about the gear. It's about how listening is being done.

Reading this one has been interesting for sure.

Kudos to those who posted and didn't attempt to stick the other guy, I do enjoy discussion when it goes this way, can be fun. Best are when guys can disagree and poke fun at each other in discussing it.

Thinking if this one could've happened in the same room with a beer or two and some tunes, would be a wholly different discussion.

Anyhow, happy 4th to all!
