I got a new (to me) PX-3 here in BT.
Loving it. It does need new feet though.
Any suggestions/experience what works?
Thanks!

Congrats - great table. What are you looking to do - a DIY solution or are you looking to see if other feet from other tables are compatible ?

Mine has some DIY isolation blocks screwed to the place where the feet go. I didn't attach them...its an odd story about how I got mine. Bought it off BT from an AKer who sent it to another AKer to get tuned up...I bought it while it happened to be within a realistic driving distance. Merrylander had attached the blocks the other AKer sent to the bottom. Ill take some pictures of them later, not sure what these things actually are.

Seems to me an AKer recently posted a DIY method of making feet for the PX-3. I have heard that some people order the Technics SL-1200 feet but they sure are pricy.

Thanks guys - great suggestions!
I seen the DIY not sure if I can pull it off, but will check outt he local Home Depot.
I will take a look inot the sl-1200 feet - I have some Amazon points I might be able to use.

try practice hockey pucks

this was recommended by Stereo surgeons. Original feet are unobtainable.

My advice on setting up a PX-3 from personal experience:

1) reset the weight to zero
2) balance the arm using a ruler and measure so it's height is parallel
3) press the manual arm control button and cue the arm inward so the stylus is at the outer edge of the LP
4) unlock the arm then raise or lower the arm so the stylus tip is at the same height as the LP. Eyeball it. lock the arm back.
5) press the cut button
6) set the tracking weight and enjoy

Don't need a protractor. Don't need a scale. Works every time. Sounds perfect.

PX-3s are cool looking and even better sounding.

Tuxman yep, that's a good approximation point to dial everything in. I've done it like that also but if your cart has a lot of sag I'd take that into account. Cantilever angle trumps tonearm angle for me (I don't try to mount carts with angled shims if I can get away with it).

One of the nice features of the PX-3 is the simple setup. Don't think sag... think cantilever suspension travel. I think this image best describes it. Note the angle is perpendicular to the height of your tone arm. All you have to do is set the correct height. The stylus manufacture has already determined the correct VTA.

Not trying to be persnickety but some of my carts are 30+ years old and the elastomer suspension ain't what she used to be--so I rely on ears also for the optimal cant to horizontal angle. I still agree that's a very good first approximation.

Someday I'll buy a new cart... :scratch2:
