Apparently I posted this in the wrong group- please move if necessary. Philly CL earlier this afternoon- 15 minutes from my house. Quad ESL-57s, pair of Quad II tube amps w/ GEC KT66s that test as new on my TV-7. Plus the preamp, old Heath tuner, orig. AR turntable. all for $195.00 (HIS asking price for all- not a lowball offer). Missing one leg on each speaker and one short cable that goes between the pre and one of the power amps. Said legs are not snapped off- the dowels are still intact. Apparently the adhesive just dried out and they fell off- the original owner will contact me if he locates them. Includes all original paperwork and receipts as ordered directly from the UK plus all manuals and the little plastic EQ settings chart that came with the preamp. Could only upload 6 pics- sorry for the poor quality- everything is still in my SUV and the sun was causing problems. In addition to all the owners manuals, brochures, and even the original warranty cards there are also a dozen pieces of correspondence between the buyer and the dealer in London- receipts and letters pertaining to importation issues. My back is killing me-- I'm getting too old for this..........Thank you one and all for the kind words.

Holy crap. Are the speakers in good working condition? That's one for the ages, and my dream score. A pair of ESL-57s went for something like $50 near where I live in the spring, but I was out of the country. They weren't working, though...and didn't have all this other great gear!

A very sincere congratulations. That is one of my dream rigs right there, all found in one day.

Oh, missing a couple of legs and a cable, I'd have passed (the cash that is). Really great score and one h*ll*v* deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, I'd spring for that, too....and I've sworn off all Craigslist stuff these days. Too many projects now and too much restored stuff piling up.

Good on ya!

Cheers,

David

My God, that has to be one of the greatest scores of all time! Congrats mon frere!!

If you want to earn your money back, I'll take one of those II's off your hands........:smoke:

A great score on some legendary gear!
Congrats!!!

I am sure I speak for everyone when I say I hope to see more pics soon!

That Quad II set would get couple of grand in NZ money. The speakers maybe about $1500.
You did very, very well here. Just be careful with the ESL's. Many, if not most, of the 57's have deteriorated over time and need re-building. slowly wind up the volume and have a look in the back and see if you can see any spark or arcing.

:yikes::yikes::yikes: That's a great score.! I'm happy you landed it. You probably haven't come down from the BIG Score High yet. It's a great feeling. Congrats!

Dream score is right! Good on you, mate.

I paid £725 ($1200) for a pair of unmolested original Quad IIs and preamp last May. I love them. Try the Russian 6P3S-Es if you want to save your GECs.
