With Photobucket, once you upload your pictures to it, you just copy the image tag and paste on the reply page. Easy Peasy.

.....until you delete them at photobucket, period, even if they've been there for years before the deletion....but, if you've used the link to a certain picture while posting, and you delete the picture at photobucket, the link already used in a post is no good, and you get this when you go back and check the old post that used to have a picture.....
.....so, if you've used the picture-via-photobucket link in a post, just don't delete the picture at photobucket.....

Suggestion : If you use Photobucket, it gives you the option to organize your photos into "Albums".
Go ahead and create an album for it right after you post a photo, then move the photo to whichever album you decide it goes in. If you post a photo onto a site like AK, and later move the photo to an album, the link will be broken.
You might want to set up several albums like "Vintage Pioneer", "Speakers", "Motorcycle", or whatever. Makes it easier to find a specific photo later when you have lots of photos.

Guys, generally speaking, unless your pic definitely will have no future value to AK members, we really would rather you did NOT use any photo hosting services.
The reason is that when you delete the photo, or close your hosting account, the pic will be gone forever. If you upload it to AK, then it will always be here for future reference to AK members.

I find that attachment pictures look and handle better, in every possible way.
Depending on each user's screen resolution, the picture displays a different size, and if large, it goes off the right border of the screen. It also causes the text to wrap to the same point as the picture border - with large pictures this makes the whole thread very tiresome to read.
People with slow connections won't thank you either, if large pictures have to be downloaded before the text can be read. Some people may choose to read only the text and not be interested in the pictures - or only choose to view some pictures in the thread.
And quoted posts ocasionally have the annoying characteristic of duplicating pictures within the quoted section.

.....FisherDude and SteerPike, I tried to upload 800 x 600 pictures at AK for a while a few years ago, and it simply didn't work for me....I tried as best I could over and over....obviously, I was doing something wrong, but limited explanations of how to do it were not bringing it home, so I went with PhotoBucket....what we need is FULL instructions not assuming anything, that cover EVERY ticky detail....can someone do that with more than about three sentences?.....

The only reason I went to photobucket was that most of pictures exceeded the capacity to download as attachments.

The method I've been using.
1. Resize pic to 500 pixels in the largest dimension using image editing software of your choice.
2. Attach resized pic to your message.
3. OPTIONAL: preview your message and click on the attachment. Pic will open in seperate window. Copy URL of this window, then go back and embed it as an IMG in your message. Now your message will display your pic in 500 x whatever format without viewers having to click on attachment and view it in seperate window.
