Questions about Niles Audio SVC-4

I'd like to get a speaker selector and I'm particularly interested in the SVC-4. I can't find much helpful info on these or copies of the manual. I have two amps that I'd like to run through it with one set of speakers.

First, I read somewhere that it can handle up 100w. Is that per amplifier, both together, or per channel? I have a 35wpc amp and a 20wpc that I'd like to run through it.

How does the protection circuit work? I suppose this kind of applies to any speaker selector with a protection circuit. The speakers I want to use are an 8 ohm load, so how would I have the SVC-4 set?

I may have to look at something else, but I feel like the SVC-4 would be good for me if it'll work. It would make things easier having my two amps share one set of speakers. It would also be nice having some extra speaker options in the future.

Also, I have no interest in ever having both amps on at the same time.

I'm an idiot... my amps are 25wpc and 15wpc. So my guess is that I'd be safe with the 100w limit. Still...

Anyone have any experience with these? :saywhat::D

Thanks!

I dont yet have any experience with the unit although I have had one under my sofa for a few months. Here is a nudie pic of mine. I believe on the right is the protection circut(the two gold devices). You can also turn the protection off on the rear. They have some kind of spring tang that grips the wires and I suppose it is just a snug fit so you would need to tin the wires or have ends on them. The detent type volumes seem to be of a quality type as is the rest of the build.

Thanks... that's good to know. I think if I'm just running two amps into one speaker pair I should be OK even if I don't use the protection circuit. That is, if I'm understanding protection circuits correctly.
