Quick simple question....

Glory or Death!
...while I wait for Gary from Transcendar to get back to me. I'm trying to clear another project from my bench, a PP 6BQ5 "Mathis" amp with actually some good sized iron in it. I'm putting the finishing touches on it, including 2A fast blo fuse, 5 way binding posts, power switch, and LED power light.

I have a 120VAC/1.5mA Rat Shack LED lamp assembly (part # 272-712) that I want to use because I'm loathe to try and drill another 5/8" hole in this thing for a full sized lamp assembly.

My question is this, and I think I know the answer, but I figgered I'd confirm. Instead of wiring the LED up in series like the fuse, I need to wire it up in parallel, say across the fuse holder so I don't try and run the entire input current through the LED, right????...:stupid:

Meanwhile I gotta look for another drill bit or a file or something, cause the largest one I can find so far is a 1/2", and this bloody switch is, of course a 5/8".....

I believe you are correct about wiring it in parallel but if it were me I'd just get a lighted switch. Best of luck with your project!

=Only 2 drill bits you will ever need for most chassis work :D

Analog, If you put the LED lamp in Parallel with the fuse holder itself it will not light unless the fuse blows so it essential in that configuration would perform as a blown fuse indicator.

It should go after the switch between hot and neutral there it would function as an on off indicator.

But If you like buy a second for a blown fuse indicator.

I use a hand deburring tool to enlarge my holes or trimimng to fit available at your local hardware store. it has a long handle with a swivel cutting edge works great otherwise I use a Dremal tool to grind it out.

How about ....

...putting the LED on the second set of contacts on a DPDT switch?

I believe I have one of those also....

As far as using a lighted switch, I just like the look of a separate indicator light...

Run one leg of the AC through the fuse. Run the other to the switch. The switch out can go to the transformer and to the light. Other side of the light will go to the fuse out. Looks like that is a Neon light not an LED. If I use an LED, I wire that to a low voltage bulb lead or to filament wire, with a dropping resistor. John
