Rack mount Nikko 1970's equipment

I have a pre-amp (Beta II), FM tuner (Gamma 1) , ATD-1 (reverb), and two Amps all made by Nikko with face plates notched for rack mounting.

My concern is that the:

Alpha I amp face plate "notches" are 4 inches OC.

Alpha II amp is 2 1/4" OC

The pre-amp, FM tuner & ATD-1 are all 1 1/8" OC.

Present day rack rails threaded holes as spaced: .625" - .625" - .5" and then repeating.

I don't see how this Nikko equipment will mount given the spacing dilemma.

Has anybody rack mounted their Nikko equipment? Or anybody explain what I am missing in understanding how this equipment will indeed rack mount within today's rack rail spec's.

What I have been told is that rack rail spacing has remained the same for some 50 years. Yet, Nikko states that their equipment mounts to any standard EIA rack rail.

Thanks for your help

I can't give you a definitive answer, but I bought my Alpha 230 from a musician & it was in a rack when I auditioned it.

I must be missing something in my "math" as I can't get to 4" OC or 2 1/4" OC nor 1 1/8" OC with existing rack rail spacing of .625 + .625 + .5 = 1.75"

I wonder is there was a European standard or Japanese std for rack rails in the 1970's.

Thanks for the link. It looks like Nikko simply designed these units from an aesthetics standpoint since they cannot be mounted to a standard rack configuration. Doesn't make sense as Nikko really emphasized the "pro" quality of the components, but I can't get to 4" or 2 1/4" or 1 1/8" no matter how I align it with present day rack rails. Frustrating.

They are designed to be mounted in a standard rack, but they are non-standard heights. Slide them around until you find a pattern that fits.

0.5+0.625=1.125
0.5+0.625+0.625+0.5=2.25
0.5+0.625+0.625+0.5+0.625+0.625+0.5=4.0

Math, it can come in handy sometimes. Still, no excuse for making non-standard front panels.

Thank you for that!

I was fixated on 1.75" and 1.25" and trying to add those up.

You solved the problem. Thank you.

In the late 1970's my friend had a mix of Nikko & Pioneer rack mounted equipment that he ended up buying a rack with adjustable side rail mounts in order to get everything to look right. The dealer that he bought all the equipment from told him up front that he would have to do that, so it didn't come as a surprise.
