Radio Shack giving away Gold series connectors...

stopped in radio Shack to pick up some wicking wire and normally I do not even look around much, but took a gander at the interconnects to see what they had.
Now these may not be the best cable in the world, but on the bottom row they had the Gold Series Stereo Audio Cables marked down to $1.97 for the 3 foot length (which is what I wanted anyway)
$1.97 !!!!!!
They had 4 pairs,so I bought them all.
Wishing they had some more at that price, I wandered back over as they jhad some other cables there with a clearance price, while not as good a bargain, they had the Monster Standard THX certified cables priced at $5.97 for the 4 foot length, $6.97 for the 8 foot length. Only had 4 of the 4 foot so I bought all of those.
Again, not the best cables in the world, but for $1.97 and $5.97 - I would personally beat feet down to my local radio shack and see if they had any left. If anything, surely good for that 2nd and 3rd stereo.
Price on just their normal stereo cables was $6.97.

They were located more in the video section then the audio section if you go to get some. I was pondering a pair of "I forget the name of the cables but they looked cool" when I glanced down and saw the tiny clearance tag on these.
4 sets of Monster Standard - 4 foot lengths - $24.00
4 sets of RS Gold Series - 3 foot length - $8.00

I wish they had more of the RS Gold Series.....never have enough of those kind of cables lying around

I'll be right back.. they got a shack down stairs here at work.. I need cables.. I'll let you know if they are on sale here too...

Well.. all they had was 2) 12 ft packages.. I bought them both for a total of 14.57... Not bad at all... I know where there are 3 more shacks at, so I'm gonna try to hit those..

I think it's because they're getting into those AVIO or whatever interconnects. Whatever the reason, I think I'm hitting the one in town here and the one in Mt. Iron when I go to the post office.

Is it just the interconnects, or is it also the banana plugs/spades? I never have enough of those. I guess they're not that expensive there to begin with, but a buck's a buck.

just certain gold series were on sale at the store I just hit.. the ones in the bubble packages...And a couple Monster cables in bubble packs.. they included s-video though, and don't need those for the added cost..

mine were not in the bubble packs, just the regular packaging.
I should have went to the next town over and see what they had.......I may do that later tonight.
John - all the store I was at had on clearance was the cables.

They've been selling off those for a while now. They're replacing them with a new line/new name.

Local store was out of the really cheap ones. They did have a 6' set of "Low Profile" Monster cables marked down from $48.99 to $19.99. Bought one set to use with the TV.

I bought some 12ft video cables for under $2 each about a month ago. The interconnects were still to expensive, I will have to go back. Be back in a bit.

My music system is running a rather tall stack of equipment and was using several over length generic cables for years. Hum was begining to be a problem. Picked up Radio Shack's premium bulk cable and top line RCA gold connectors, and solded up everything to proper length's. Result's are 100% perfect. No hum of any kind on any input at any level setting. Wish I'd gotten off my butt earlier.

My local "The Shack" had very little on the rack that I could use. A bunch of odd video cables (RCA to S Video?) and a few very long (12') component video cables. I know I could use component video cables, but 12' is way too long for me. Oh well.

turns out next closest one to me is 45 miles away so I am just going to be happy with the ones I did get. I am guessing the best chance for them would be the smaller town radio shacks - chances are as soon as someone sees them they would be like me and buy all they had.
I only wished they had more.

Thanks for the tip!

I used the 45 minutes I'd otherwise use waiting for my laundry to dry to zip over to the local thrift (came up with nothing) and then got a set of 12-ft. RS Gold interconnects in a bubble pack for $7 (regularly priced at $25 to $30, I forget exactly). This is very timely, because after a reconfig of my office system, my TT is too far from my amp to use the bog-standard 3-footers I'd been using. 12-ft is more than I need, but the only other route was to get two mono 6-footers they had in their small selection, for a cost of $4 total, but with the same color plugs. Heck, for an extra $3, I don't mind having extra-long cables in this instance.
