Re-Capping advise please

Seems the rage now, re-cap vintage gear. I am working on an solid state amp vintage 1960's. It has the big multi-section electrolytics which I would like to replace. Trouble is that I can't find these types, i.e. 1500 mfd @ 50 volts. Multi section electrolytics are available for tube gear.

I have checked Mouser Electronics but basically can only find the values I need in individual caps. What I want to know is even though I can match the capacitance and voltage ratings these replacement caps come in a much smaller package. Electronically it should be the same just wondering if I am missing something.

New caps are much smaller than their antique counterparts. Small enough that you could mount them on a terminal strip beneath the chassis perhaps? If not, you can do a very clean removal restuff and replace by following a tutorial posted here in the tube section, and simply mounting the new caps inside the old can!

You're not missing anything. New caps are smaller, mostly from better design and chemistry. Terminal strips or re-stuffing the old can is probably your method here. Personally I don't really care for re-stuffing because I find it to be annoying but if you want it to look original, or if space is at a premium you may have no choice.

Oh, thought, try Hayseed Hamfest. They will make you caps at whatever values you need. I think they're basically taking modern caps and putting them in cans, they aren't actually making old style can caps on site.

Thank you for the replies. I figured as such. I'm more a functional guy, fix what's broke and stuffing cans is a lot of work but looks great if done right.
