Realistic Clarinette 96 -- Repair Help

My father wants me to try and help fix his Realistic Clarinette 96 for Christmas. He inherited this unit from his father so it means a lot to him.

I'm not sure there is much I can do with the cassette deck but I feel confident in tackling the turntable. I've already ordered a replacement stylus. However, I'm still looking for a manual, service manual, and a replacement belt.

Any input/suggestion is highly appreciated.

The cassette deck most likely just needs a new belt or two.

The turntable is an idler drive table and as such does not have a belt. It will need to have old grease cleaned away, and new grease applied. Also, oil the motor and install a new stylus if the cartridge is still good.

All of the controls will need to be cleaned with deoxit, and the amplifier could have a bad capacitor or two.

All in all I would say a couple hours of work for a tech to make this thing work right and check it out properly.

Good to know this is a idler drive. I can handle a re-grease. Any idea how difficult it is to pull these guys apart without an instruction manual?

I couldn't find a cartridge anywhere online.

Also, if anyone has any specifics about belts for the cassette deck, I might invest and give a shot.

Sign up to vinylengine, and download BSR manuals until you find something close. You should be able to locate some useful info there.

Also, try www.thevoiceofmusic.com to look for cartridges. You will find a replacement stylus if you look hard enough. These were made by the bazillions.

This is of no value, just being nostalgic, but when I was a kid I would drool over those all-in-one Clarinettes in the Radio Shack catalogs! Was fun to see one discussed here on AK!
