Realistic question

Hey yall , new guy here , looking to replace pioneer sx680 - I've got my eye on a realistic sta 2000d, will this have more power than sx680 and enough for pair of cerwin vega ls12 ? Everything in my basement is vintage except for TV and speakers so would like a good powerhouse old school reciever. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Sorry , I'm not stereo savvy , I don't know what some of this lingo means , just trying to put out some good sound in my basement! Thanks for all comments and help !!
 
10-4 thanks , love my pioneer , the sound it produces is high quality , just need a little more power i think ? I play my music loud so I can hear it all around the house and yard,. So I'm thinking the sta 2000d will do the job !!! Hope so , thanks
 
I didn't know realistic brand was any count , but after reading about it , looks like may good quality, sure does have nice looks!! Is it ok to use both a and b selection of speakers at same time ,? Just wo

I think all Cerwin-Vegas are very efficient so you don't need 100 watts or more. The Realistic if it's in good shape should suffice, I would wonder about any electrolytic caps getting flaky. This receiver was manufactured when?

Though the STA-2000 puts out 2.5 times more power max, it won't be twice as loud. Maybe about 30% louder.
For what you are wanting to do though, which I assume is to run four speakers off the receiver, the STA would be a better bet.

About using A and B at the same time - you can do that as long as you have four speakers hooked up. On some receivers if you do that but have only one set of speakers hooked up, you may get no sound.
Another thing, I do not know if this applies to the STA2000 but also on some units when you turn on A and B speakers, it cuts the power in half to each set.

ALL receivers are like that. They've only got ONE stereo amp which is shared by two sets of speakers. not individual amps for each speaker output.
 
From what I've read the sta2000d was late 70s early 80s, thanks again for all the info!!
Hopefully I'll be putting system together sometime this week , can't hardly wait !

The Realistic will run speakers that are 4 ohms. So the speakers and the receiver should be a good match. Also it does have pre-outs on the back so you could always use it as a preamp and go to a bigger amp later if that is an option for you.
 
Awesome , thanks, hopefully no " bigger amp " will be needed as my wife may flip if I buy anything else , ha !! Rock on ! Going to hook up cv's first by themselves and see how it goes from there. The other set of speakers JL-860 will be on stand by. Any more thoughts would be great and will write back when hearing my new set up !!
