Realistic SA-700 amp question

I guess my biggest question is, why is this amp so sought after by some?, over the last month I've been going through and rearranging my older audio gear, I knew that I had an SA-900 which I found and started looking for info about, while doing so, it seams that from what I was finding, that the SA-700 is the one to watch for. So I checked eBay's ended auctions with only one recent result and was shocked to see that it sold for $300. plus tax and $25. shipping. So what is so special about this little amp? I had bought a Lafayette LA-125TA off the bay several years ago that looks very similar to the SA-700, It hasn't been used for quite some time, but I do remember it sounding very good.

Nothing special about this amplifier at all. Typical late 60's\70's circuit design found in a number of similar amplifiers at the time. Individual sell value at today's used pricing is typically around $75 to $150 max.

But, in the ebay case, you only have two bidders, so it probably boils down to one bidder saying to themselves, "this other bidder isn't going to get it at any price" :p Common sense basically gets thrown out the window or both bidders just have money to burn.

I liked the looks of the esrlier RS equipment, but I agree, the SA-700 isn't that great. If I remember right, those nasty Japanese resistors were used in those. The metal end caps can fall right off along with the lead. The gold faced SA-1000, SA-2000 or SA-2001 would be much better choices.
