Ok i have a question?? when i try to record on this deck. The meter lights change color (red). i can see the meters moving. But i get no sound?? Playback works fine...MY pioneer hr-99 records normal. So what could be the problem??? thanks

Open the case and locate the sliding switch that is moved back and forth when play mode changes to record mode. The switch is moved when the record button is pushed in. The principle is there needs to be a switching of signals from the playback amp to the record amp, that goes to the head (which is a combination head-handles playback and recording).

Clean this switch thoroughly. I have the screwdriver shaft pointing to it. Use the record button to move it-it's easy to spot then. It's long. Work cleaner into all external points available, and move switch back and forth repeatedly.
