Wanted to start (another) thread for us to post recommendations on great recordings you have listened to. Any genre is within limits, although I listen to mostly rock. :)

I will get started with...

Beck - Pretty much everything he has put out but Sea Change/Mutations immediately rise to the top for me.
Fleetwood Mac - Self titled first album. I have always thought it sounded better than Rumours.
Bryan Ferry - Boys and Girls
Joe Jackson - Body and Soul
Steely Dan - Gaucho. Blows away Aja in my humble opinion. Although I do love Aja!
Dire Straits - Pretty much everything, especially Comminique and Love Over Gold. Although I did feel Making Movies was lacking(?)
Beatles - Abbey Road and Rubber Soul.
Tom Petty - Wildflowers
Al Stewart - Year of the Cat
Roxy Music - Avalon
Ryan Adams - Everything
Phil Collins - Hello I Must be Going
Thomas Dolby - Aliens Ate My Buick

Alan Parsons Project "I Robot" & "Pyramid"
Phil Collins "Face Value"
Heart "Dreamboat Annie"
Linda Ronstadt (All three albums she made with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra)

Jazz:

Most Jazz albums from 1957-1966! Too many to list!

Dead Can Dance "Into the Labyrinth"
Paul Simon "There Goes Rhymin Simon"
John Prine "Fair and Square"
Jerry Garcia and David Grisman "Shady Grove"
Various "The Best of the Chicago Blues" (Vanguard Records)
Anything from Ry Cooder
Muddy Waters " Folk Singer"
Grateful Dead "Blues for Allah"
Justin Towns Earle "Single Mothers", "Saint of Lost Causes"
Daft Punk "Random Access Memories"
Bob Dylan "Oh Mercy", " Time Out of Mind", "Modern Times"
New West Records "20th Anniversary Compilation"
Fountains of Wayne "Welcome Interstate Managers"
Sandy Denny "North star Grassman and the Ravens"

And

Ben Weaver "Mirepoix and Smoke" with an ambience that sounds like it was recorded in the hallway of an old farmhouse. Close your eyes and you can hear the flowers on the wallpaper.

Solar Energy by the Ray Brown Trio

The gentleman are in the room, and Ray's big acoustic bass is recorded perfectly.

Their "A Train", at a New Orleans funeral pace, is unforgettable.

Lowell George, Thanks I'll Eat it Here.

The first time I put this one on the table I was blown away by the production and sound quality. Two thumbs up on this one. :bigok:

Little Feat "Dixie Chicken". I have the MoFi gold CD and it sounds phenomenal. Pretty much anything by Little Feat will sound good.
