No time to take pics, but for a nickel each I got a darn-near mint Mofi copy of Dark Side of the Moon, a half-speed mastered MINT copy of Jeff Beck's 'Blow by Blow" - and app. 150 other albums in excellent to mint condition! (Yea, it was a VERY good day indeed!)

That is a score! I have notice the quality of the records at the GW's has gotten much better! Good for us...LOL.

Enjoy your new buys.:thmbsp:

Who in their right mind sells any records for a nickel each these days? Let alone near mint MoFi pressings! That's one for the record(no pun) books!!

Yeah.....I've noticed the Mantovani, Mitch Miller and Firestone Xmas LPs are being found at my local thrifts in much better conditions these days.....some even NM! You're lucky! In this neck of the woods, it's rare to find any desirable records at thrifts that are in clean condition!

That said....being at the right place at the right time can produce some really great scores. Good luck!.....and keep on crate digging! I still can't get those .5 cent MoFis out of my head! What next? .25 cent paste-over Beatles Butcher Covers?! Last time I heard that happening was in the late 70's!

Garage and estate sales ;) Facebook now has a lot of 'garage sale' pages as well. I just tell folks I won't pay more than a quarter an album, and if I see a 'pricy' one I'll be honest with them and make a fair offer for it. In this case, some albums had been soaked and were moldy with ruined covers, so I just gave 'em a bulk offer without even looking, and he accepted it because he didn't want to have to drag them back in the basement. So....

Soaked with moldy ruined covers? I guess in that case they're worth 5 cents each. Hopefully some of the records are salvageable. To be honest, I usually pass on water damaged records. And in my neck of the woods, I've seen my share......unfortunately!

You're lucky the garage salers accept your 25 cent per LP offer....especially for better rock vinyl. I usually see them priced at a $1 each, when I'm lucky to find them. And maybe given a discount for a quantity purchase. I guess pricing varies in different areas.

I have come across a few water damaged moldy covers recently. Being careful to use a mask and gloves to remove the vinyl from the cover, discarding the jacket and cleaning the vinyl.

Dave Brubeck Quartet,"On Campus" and Bill Evans Live are some of the records that cleaned up to an almost mint condition! So I don't walk by the damaged Records.

Thanks,
John.:music::D

Masks and gloves are a MUST!!! But some covers CAN be saved if they aren't too bad. I've saved quite a few actually. ALWAYS make sure you wipe them down with a disposable disinfecting cloth though, otherwise they will mold!!!

Nice scores, one and all.

I bought about 25 albums for $2 per at the local GW but most were in very very nice condition, out of about 60 that were recently donated (didn't see them at the beginning of the week). So not quite the score, but pretty good.
