Record weight/clamp- Yes or No?

It reminds me of my future Yamaha GT2000.

They're a number of top tier Kennys currently on eBay for ridiculously cheap money, this is where I've purchased my last five tables with no shipping issues. If not familiar with some of the better Kenwoods, there's a KP990 available. A few pics to show just how special these tables are.

Do you use a weight on your vinyl? Why or why not? If so, what kind do you use?
I have a good quality record weight but choose not to use it mostly because the platter mat stops the record slipping so what's the point?, it just increases the weight on the subplatter bearing and I cannot hear a beneficial musical difference. In fact I think the turntable can control the speed better with the original designed weight of the platter without adding to it.

I use a 16 oz. weight with my TD-124. Comparative listening with and without demonstrated that the weight tightened the bass (better definition) and improved imaging clarity.

I use the clamp that came with my table. Not only does it help with non-flat vinyl, but to put it simply, it plain sounds better. It was obvious when I tried it with and without. It was obvious: there was more body in the mids and better reverb that was picked up.

I use a Bren1, mainly to flatten out records with mild dish warps as shown in previous posts. It doesn't make a night and day difference in sound if the record is already quite flat. If you have a P-750, note that Yamaha made a small stabilizer weight that you can sometimes find if you look around. I don't know if it originally came with the P-750 or not.

I use a souther clever clamp, which seems to mate the record to the acrylic platter mat pretty well. On a U-Turn Orbit I own, I often use a simple blinder clamp to mate the record to the acrylic mat. Works like a champ and the price was right!

Instead of telling the OP, or anyone else that posts this way,to do a search before posting a question, how about just scroll past it, or even better, look at how many posts the person has made. Or was everyone on here already a pro surfing this site?

for those searching benefits or lack there of Record Weight Clamps: remove it from the record area prior to moving the TT... or it might just slide towards and take out the stylus!
on the fence here as to benefits of RWC's.

The Pro-Ject weight is my preferred device for coupling the vinyl to the platter. Came in a ridiculously fancy box and I've dropped it a couple of time so the paint's chipped.

The KAB clamp is OK I guess but the weight requires no thought while I always worry about clamping enough or not enough with the KAB.

The TT with the acrylic platter is much more prone to slippage than the Technic's rubber mat and I've done no A/B testing with a variety of discs, but I like the idea of the disc securely coupled to the platter/matt.

So I recommend a weight (passive!) with an easy to hold top.
