Recently had two 12” Eminence vintage woofers with the square Wendy’s hamburger magnet professionally refoamed. Went that route because I didn’t trust myself to refoam with the roll inward as opposed to outward which seems to be the norm for most speakers but not the pair I am restoring. Anyway as part of process, shop told me gaskets are typically cosmetic only and therefore unnecessary. Nevertheless I separately purchased a four hole set appropriate for the speakers that I planned to install. However upon receiving the refoamed woofers, the shop installed paper gaskets with 8 holes. I am kind of a perfectionist and feel it detracts the look. Question: how much damage to the underlying foam would occur by removing the 8 hole gasket set and installing the 4 hole set? Or maybe I should just let the sleeping dog lie?
