refoaming speakers advices

hi guys.I'm new to this forum and I'm please to meet you all.

2 days ago I found some Energy ESM-3 speakers thrown in the garbage but when I look at them, they seem quiet decent speakers.The foam was all off and I was wondering which or what re-foaming kits that would work for them.This would be my first time to attempt this and any good advice would be much appreciated.I also have a pair of Boston HD7 which needs re-foaming too.I never used them for the last 4 years because the foam and I'm looking to revive them and play them on my NAD receiver t762, which sounds amazing.

also, what are the size woofer on the boston and the ESM-3?

I've looked around the net for kits and found this for boston HD7 but not too sure if its the right one's.

I also find a kit for esm-3 on ebay but seems to be quiet expensive in my opinion but could be wrong tho.

What place or site with good price would you recommend to buy from for re-foaming speakers?

then again, I have no idea whats right or whats wrong and would appreciate your recommendations.

I've ordered from SpeakerWorks and they are a good company. Remember the price you see is for one speaker so you will have to buy two of them. Just make sure the measurements of the surrounds coincide with your speakers and you should be fine. Also make sure you buy the correct angle or flat surrounds for mating up with the edge of the woofer cone.

The way it looks from the auction link the Energy's are 8".

Where abouts are you located? - there may be a local supplier that a fellow AKer knows about.

You don't really need to purchase a 'kit' - buy the foams and then go to a hobby / craft shop and get some Aleene's Tacky Glue. Shims may be made from card stock, old business cards, etc. (I use drafting mylar). Usually you don't need new dustcaps - cut 90% around the dust cap (Not the cone! - and watch for the wires) and fold it back ... then glue it back down after you are finished. If you don't want to shim you can try test tones or batteries to center the voice coil. Lot's of info on this web site and others to help you along.

I think you will have a much easier time finding foams for the ESM's. I'd practice on the Energy speakers 1st.

Of course, since the Energy's are a fine example of Canadian speakers, you might never feel the need to to the BA's :D
 
wow man!guys thats awesome.I really appreciate this stuff.I didn't even know that the speaker foam surround has a FLAT or ANGLED.I would probably be gone buying something that might not be fitting right.

That Re-edge kits site is great.they basically have everything.

hi guys.I've received and fix everything up.Everything went well.I was really surprise about the esm 3 there specially from garbage I find outside:) but I guess its not.I find the mix of the hd7 Boston and the esm goes quiet well together.

What I like about the Boston is the tight bass they give compare the esm but the esm 3 has good high's.Somewhat a less tighter bass but smoother bass.all together brings that nice tight bass from HD7 and good high's and smoother bass from the esm.

I also put up a 6.1 surround and the sounds that the nad t762 gives is really impressive.It feels great to bring back this thing alive:)

I'm also thinking of building up some speakers and see what I can do but that will be later on.For now its great.

forgot about asking something.My nad can make a 7.1 analog but I'm not to sure how I can achieve this.Apparently I need speakers wires that have analog plugs to connect in the nad and my speakers have no analog plugs but I can only plug up the actual wires L/R.

I guess my question is....Is there any analog/actual wire wires you can buy around if that's possible ofcourse.
What if I get some red and white analog plug and cut one of the ends red and white and plug the cut part into the speaker and the analog part in the nad....would that work?

sorry if its a little confusing.
