REGA RP3 Hum

I am getting a slight hum out of the left channel when using my Rega RP3. If I touch / move the wires coming out of the tonearm and into the cartridge it will get worse or temporarily go away. Any thoughts? I'm using a fairly new Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. If I move around the RCA (interconnects) coming out the plinth there is no effect on the hum, so I'm guessing it's the pins, the cart, or the wiring in the tonearm. The turntable is new.

Had the same thing happen on my Music Hall table. Had the pins replaced and all is good.

I agree with the idea of letting your dealer take care of it. My RP3 has never had a trace of hum, so I'm pretty sure it's not endemic to the design. One of the advantages of buying new should be that the shop deals with issues like this, not the customer, and hopefully by setting everything up for you and testing it before you take it home.

I'd make sure your RCA's are fitting nice and tight on your amp as well. Sometimes if the outer part of the RCA interconnect is loose it can lose ground at the input. It's still probably more likely to be the tonearm wiring/pins that your dealer should handle, but might as well check the connections at your amp.
