Hi,
Just picked up a pair of Rogers LS2s. This model IS NOT one of the BBC minis, it appears to be a cross between a Studio One and Three? Can't find much regarding this specific Rogers speaker. I did find one site that had a lot of pictures "the anatomy of an LS2", but the author said he had no personal experience with this speaker. The specs he offered were the ones off the label on the back, which I now have two of :D
Anyone here own these, or have any insight or info? MSRP new? Any comments much appreciated.

I had a pair of LS2a's (not sure what the difference is between the 2's and the 2a's) which I eventually sold.
I have pictures and some info (I think) at home which I will post tonight if I have a chance.

I liked the way they imaged and the midrange was clear and accurate but I disliked the bass. It was muddy and I tried a few different amps and receivers and placements and couldn't find anything to clear up the bass. YMMV

From what I could gather they are/were a lower end line put out by Rogers.
 
They were the smaler model in a line that comprised the LS2´s, LS4´s and LS6´s in the 90´s, just before Rogers closed shop.
All of them very good value for money monitors in the best British tradition.

I never heard these but do remember them in some of the shops I frequented. Yes I think they were the lower-end of the Rogers line.
 
Found specs for LS2A

From the Oct 1989 issue of Audio mag, the LS2A had a 5" woofer, dome tweeter, with a tuned port enclosure. Freq resp 60 - 20, sens is 87, list price is listed as $400/pr.

My LS2 have exactly the same size bass/ mid as the LS3/5a. In fact it looks like the same chassis (basket) and magnet as the B110 in the LS3/5a. The cone is different, polypropylene for LS2, Bextrene for LS3/5a.

It very much looks as if the LS2 bass/ mid was make by KEF for Rogers.

I also have Chartwell LS3/5a, so can compare the units.
 
Yes, seen Mark's website before, it is very interesting.

On it I see brochure and specs for LS2a2, but not LS2.

Here are pics (sorry about quality) of my LS2 with a KEF B110 SP1003 (as used in 15 Ohm LS3/5a) held up to it.

They are the same size, if one takes out the LS2 bass/ mid unit the similarity becomes even more apperent, the magnet and the chassis are the same.

By adding drinking straws to the port of the LS2, I feel that the bass is improved. I think this idea was first used by Celef in the early 70s.

LS-2 port straws

Any idea on how long the straws should be? This effectively increases port resistance, like reducing port dia, but the size and length are critical to duplicate whatever improvement this brings.....
 
On the Rogers LS2 I used them the length of the port tube, seems to work.

On some B&W DM4's the port is just a hole and seems to tune the system too high, added a cardboard tube about 2 3/4" long and filled that with straws, result was deeper bass and a slight reduction in the upper bass, which I considered an improvement.
 
That's funny. Mission used a port with the "soda straws" built in for some of their models; they called it a cellular port (it was cast plastic, not separate "straws"). I have the Renaissance 737 with that type of port - there are 37 holes, each 2" long.

Yep, I had Mission Argonaut ( I think) and they had what you describe, but Celef were using the straws many years before.

As for the LS2- definitely a kick ass little monitor. they weren't terribly expensive ( but neither was the LS3/5a ). They're well engineered and sound pretty damn impressive.
