Sad day for B&K fans

I heard that B&K, a manufacturer of quality amps and preamps went under. I have a B&K amp and preamp and they are well made and great sounding. Hopefully they will reorganize and be back.

:sigh:

Another American - Buffalo NY to be exact - audio company that (probably) was hit hard by this strange obsession so many people have with listening to music only when driving, walking to their college lab class or mowing the lawn.

It's a tough time for home electronic makers. We deal a lot with distributors/manufacturers and they are suffering. A lot of distributors are keeping their warehouse levels low and dealers are stocking less items.

Cash flow is key and having it tied up in inventory is bad during this current economy. We are finding a lot of companies have cut expenses (in creative ways) to stay afloat.

Well I also heard that maybe ATI may purchase the company. Hopefully keep the jobs in Buffalo. If B&K does not reorganize and come back, I guess that means my warranty on my amp is no longer valid.

I have heard that ATI rumor also?
My B&K gear is 22 years-old, and still running strong!!
Guess I'm gonna have to find schematics for them, some time in the future.

My local dealer was talking about this the other day. He said the B&K went under because of some issues with not being able to support HDMI. He also said that B&K's warranty support mechanism is going to be operational and so there is not going to be an issue getting parts or repairs.
