SAE 2600 Left Meter Dead

I am working on a SAE 2600 power amp. Successfully have both channels working great but the left meter does not work. I found 2 of the IN283 germanium diodes are shorted. these are impossible to find. Is there an equivalent that will work? I looked and am not having any luck. Thanks in advance.

Many people use Schottky diodes with about a .2 to .3 Vf for germaniums in applications like this where the Vf is important, but not any other reason to use germanium.

Maybe Schottky: 1n6263 or bat46 (looks like BAT41 to 46 would work). Plentiful and inexpensive. Lower Vf than FDH444.

thanks guys. I ran this through Chat GPT...
The IN283 is a specific type of germanium diode. While there isn't an exact equivalent with the same part number, you can typically substitute it with other germanium diodes with similar specifications. Some commonly used germanium diodes include 1N34A, 1N60, and OA47. It's important to check the datasheets and specifications of these diodes to ensure they meet the requirements of your circuit.
