Sansui 2000x blown fuse

My Sansui 2000x became very weak in one channel only. I found a blown rear panel fuse and was very surprised that the channel worked at all. I replaced the fuse with same and it is working fine. Was the blown fuse a fluke or should I be concerned that something else is amiss?

You should at least examine your speaker wires for a possible intermittent short (damaged wire, or strands touching at the amp or speaker terminals).

+1 on the wiring. Fuses also fatigue or weaken with age, due to off-on heating cycles (not a lot, but the fusing material is on the soft side, metal wise). On the 2000 series you have 3 total fuses. Main fuse is a 125v/3A with the spkr (or more correctly the Amp Fuses) being 125v/2.5A. You can use 250V fuses in the same amperage here. You might want to replace all 3 with new to give you a baseline, age wise. IT's conceivable the fuse that died was an original fuse from 1969 to 1972. Good long run.

I literally just bought a 2000x. It had a blown fuse. So I replaced it, I plugged it into my dim bulb tester and the bulb was very bright which would be a short i thought. So I deoxit it and it works great. I have never had that happen before but it tells me that dirty switches on this 2000x can cause what looks like major problems and blow the fuse. I would deox your switches if I where you. The stuff I used on mine is CRC 2-26 sold at home depot for much cheaper than actual deoxit. It brought my Sansui 2000x from dead to fully functional, I was shocked!

Power transistor would be my guess, i had a weak channel in my 2000 i thought it was the vol pot..then it just gave up.
Mj15003g sorted it

Very easy to pull and test

Tener. The 2-26 is just a lube, not a cleaner. You CAN use that in place of FADERLUBE. It WILL NOT work in Place of DeOxit D-5 as the 2-26 has no cleaning properties.
