Sansui 5050 No Lights - No Power to the lights

Just picked up a 5050 and have no lights. Checked the circuit board and only have 0.5V on the tuner circuit board. Should have around 6-7 according to info I can see. Are there any fuses just for the lights? The light meter out fine so they are not burnt out. Ant help would be great

1. The voltage on the lamps is AC, not DC, so be sure you have your meter set to AC.
2. The panel lamps go through the selector switch. The dial lamps only come on in AM or FM. Clean the heck out of the selector switch, it's a common failure in these models. The contacts may be bad enough that you'll have to bypass the selector switch and have the lamps always on.
 
I sprayed it pretty good. No go. I need to see where the voltage comes from and then maybe I can just have them on all them time. Any thoughts on the color of the source wires for the voltage? I need to break down the receiver all the way to get to those wires.

I don't have the schematic. It comes from the transformer but there is probably a fuse in series with it. Check all the fuses with a meter.
 
All fuses good. Measure windings where? I think the voltage feed wires come from the bottom to the selector switch. I see the wires going up to the tuner board and then I think they jump to the individual bulb wire ports, right? Let me see how far I can take the housing apart and still have it working and keep chasing voltages.

6.3v ac to be exact . that same ac is also rectified by d601 then feeds the stereo lamp positive voltage.
check ac volts pin 01 f-2648 board
 
So sorry. I lost you there. I am not that good with electronics and troubleshooting AC. I cant find that board or that diode yet. What do I connect the NEG of the voltmeter to, ground?

Problem Solved

Thanks to all for the quick replies. It was a flaky fuse socket. Installed a new fuse on 601 and we are all set. The only remaining issue is the FM light bar that runs vertically down the scale does not light up. I checked the voltage on one side and the ground on the other. I also metered out the light and it does not appear to be broken. Too little for me to worry about.
